Position Purpose
The Business Continuity Manager is responsible for building, developing, maintaining, and testing coordination for Sleep Number's enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery program. The manager will support business planning activities necessary to enable Sleep Number to manage an event and meet compliance requirements for business continuity planning. This role will be a member of Information Security, within Governance Risk and Compliance team.
This manager-level role has been established as an individual contributor role, which may lead to the build out of a team (direct reports) as the program matures and the business cases exist.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement business continuity strategies and solutions.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify critical business processes, and complete business impact assessments.
- Oversee the management of business continuity across Sleep Number including the management of business and technology risks.
- Develop program roadmap for building out enterprise Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) plans.
- Update and establish corporate policies defining requirements for BC/DR program.
- Assist in facilitating full technical backup exercises, and tabletop exercises.
- Create templates and instructions for business partners to enable the documentation of business continuity procedures.
- Partner closely with Information Security, Legal, Internal Assurance, Physical Security, Human Resources and IT leadership to define the vision, strategy, goals, and objectives for BC/DR.
Key Performance Indicators
- Establish initial BC/DR program and set maturity targets for the future.
- Advance the maturity of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery capability through leadership, peer influence, strategic planning, and measured execution.
- Establish and operationalize periodic (annual) backup recovery tests and tabletop exercises.
- Successful establishment of productive working relationships establishment of productive working relationships across the Sleep Number enterprise.
- Where needed, manage third party engagements (for assessments, consulting, testing, etc.).
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of experience within risk management, information security, compliance, or audit.
- 5+ years of Information Technology and/or Information Security experience.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentational communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of business and executive leadership.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and demonstrate "self-drive" with ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, navigate ambiguity, leveraging best practices, and approaching any problem as a team-player with a can-do attitude.
- Preferred: Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery certification (e.g., CBCI, CBCM, CBCP, EDRP).
- Knowledge of Business Continuity best practices, understanding of all aspects of Business Continuity Management, including Disaster Recovery Planning.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required, including a natural ability to tailor communication to various audiences. Ability to solve problems.
- Creative problem solver, flexible, proactive, and work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
- Experience in Retail and/or eCommerce.
- Experience in interacting with GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) platforms.
- Ability to travel up to 10%
