Job Description

We are looking for a Business Data Analyst who supports operations and conducts data analytics projects to provide information and insights to stakeholders for decision-making or solution development. Position Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate data systems and business needs to create system solutions which support overall business strategies.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, objectives, and requirements.

• Develop business requirements for multiple business functions, understand how those functions interact, and what the enterprise solution(s) could do to support those business needs.

• Utilize scripting and querying tools like SQL, Python, or R, data visualization/BI tools, data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards.

• Interact with project team and management to identify and document benefits, costs, and risks associated with solution alternatives.

• Help to ensure proper communication, process flow, data quality, reliability, integrity, and security for automated systems as needed.

• Organize formal presentations to Lockton decision-makers.

• Work with transactional and policy datasets to aggregate data at various levels.

• Participate and own internal definitions applied to data by using logic and code.

• Become a subject matter expert on data transformations and lineage.

• Implement data standards and deploy automation tools to extract, synthesize, and validate data from different sources and transform data into usable metrics.

• Construct data sets, monitor data quality, troubleshoot and resolve database issues to ensure data integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or related degree is required with a preference for majors in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

    • Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.

    • 5+ years of experience of SQL programming language.

    • Familiar with relational database and distributed application concepts.
    • Strong analytical skills.

    • Experience with Azure's services is preferred (Data Factory, ADLS, Databricks PYSPARK, Synapse, etc.).

    • Some experience using R and/or Python.

    • Understand data sources, processes, formulas, and output.

    • Ability to understand data integrity and correctness.

    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Actively seeks solutions to problems without supervision.

    • Aptitude to develop unique, creative, and efficient work products.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    • Assumes ownership for individual projects.

    • Beneficial knowledge: BI analytics/reporting tools, specifically PowerBI, dashboard design/configuration, data mining, data quality, data visualization, machine learning, scripting languages, statistical analysis, trend analysis, data standards, statistical software, and general data analysis software.

    • Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

    • Contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project.

    • Experience in articulating and documenting user requirements.
    • Experience within the insurance and brokerage industry is a plus.
    • Experience with accounting/billing systems is a plus.
    • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and written.
    • Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed.
