Business Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY (Key tasks and outcomes):

Receive, validate, and import client data for various services offered by apexanalytix, involving research, configuration, and manipulation of data. In addition, this involves maintaining integrity and communication of such integrity to applicable departments at apexanalytix and/or the client.

Primary Tasks/Activities:

• Reading, researching, analyzing, validating and manipulating client data in a timely manner with the highest level of quality.
• Work with cross-functional team members to establish new or existing relational data.

• Keeping the senior manager informed of all issues effecting the due date or quality of deliverables.
• Load data into SQL Server using DTS or SSIS.
• Map data in SQL server from client formats into apexanalytix standard formats.
• Maintaining internal apexanalytix databases and troubleshoot issues.
• Supporting internal apexanalytix departments with data requests, research, etc.
• Assisting in other assignments as needed.
• Detail and deadline oriented with the ability to prioritize and multitask.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Components:

• Strong data analytics, critical thinking and problem solving with leveraging technology.
• Solid knowledge of data and data conversion techniques.

• Working knowledge of all Microsoft office suite applications.

• Expert knowledge of SSMS and Query Analyzer in SQL Server.
• Working knowledge of other programming languages (Python, R, VB, etc.) would be a plus.
• Working knowledge of various procurement and AP systems.
• Solid understanding of discovery and QA processes from a data perspective.
• Working knowledge of SSIS.
• Working knowledge of SSRS would be a plus.
• General knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance.
• Use data to inform change recommendations and priorities.
• Able to maintain a positive and professional attitude toward internal and external customers.
• Ability to adapt to fast changing environments and handle a high-volume workload.

Experience (Years and types):

• 5 years in IT with technical experience in relational database environment, 7+ years' experience preferred.
• Experience with an industry standard ETL tools such as Pervasive Data Integrator or SSIS a plus.
• Working experience with retail data would be a plus.

Education Levels/Credentials (Degree types and Emphasis):

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Communication, or Business from an accredited college or university. 7+ years' experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

• SQL Server Certification or working toward achievement.

Skills and Abilities and Other Characteristics:

• Proficiency in current and historical versions of SSMS and Windows operating systems.

• Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently by conducting research using available tools.
• Excellent detail-orientation and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Physical Work Environment:

• This is a remote opportunity however based in North Carolina or Arkansas would be preferred. May require some travel.
