Business Development Analyst-International

Position Description:

Mathematica applies expertise at the intersection of data, methods, policy, and practice to address complex social challenges and improve well-being around the world. Our work provides actionable learning to guide decision-making and improve outcomes in a range of policy areas, including agriculture and food systems; health and nutrition; climate change; water, sanitation, and hygiene; education and workforce development, and energy.

We are seeking a bright, energetic, and highly motivated individual to join our international team as a Business Development Analyst. The Business Development Analyst will conduct market research and provide business development support across all activities associated with business development for our International Unit. They will possess strong market intelligence and experience in business development, including preparing expressions of interest and capability statements. The analyst will contribute to the development of a robust pipeline and specific opportunities to grow Mathematica's work in international development.

Core Responsibilities include but not limited to the following tasks:

• Regularly review international donor forecasts to identify relevant opportunities to build a robust pipeline.
• Lead business development knowledge management, including maintaining a proposal library, identifying exemplary proposal text, and keeping capability statements current.
• Support preparation of expressions of interest and capability statements.
• Draft non-technical sections of proposals, including Past Performance, Corporate Capabilities, Staffing and Management Plan, Country Context, Security Plans, and Cost Narratives.
• Ensure proposal compliance with bidding documents and funder guidelines.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Position Requirements:

• A Master's degree (preferred) in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Public Policy or another relevant field and at least two years of professional business development experience with USAID, the World Bank, international development contractors, NGOs, or other donor/development agencies.
• A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
• Familiarity with funder guidelines (e.g., FARs, AIDARs) and applying them to technical and business proposals.
• Flexibility to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English. French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Arabic language is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and high level of attention to detail.
