We are seeking a Business Development Associate who will help (under close supervision) senior business development leaders manage their portfolios, identify market trends and future opportunities, and conduct competitive analyses.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing a comprehensive understanding of Mathematica's capabilities, competitive environment, and market to inform strategic business development efforts.
  • Conduct business development and market research to identify opportunities and monitor industry trends, including by continuously updating a database of competitor profiles and research.
  • Build relationships and work closely with business development leaders to manage pipeline of opportunities, portfolio, and general support.
  • Provide research, organizational, and light graphics support for knowledge management tools, including in-house ecosystem maps and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Synthesize information on partners, competitors, client priorities, and existing business to support in-house ecosystem mapping
  • Scan competitive industry trends and conduct business intelligence to produce business landscape status reports and ad hoc research for senior staff.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on business development metrics.
  • Network with clients, potential clients, and potential partners to be abreast of trends affecting new business development.
  • Analyze corporate enterprise data.
  • Participate in and manage special departmental projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion lens across job responsibilities.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Requirements:
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, business, management, operations, economics, political science, public health, social science, or another relevant field.
  • Possess at least one year of experience in a related field (can include internship experience)
  • A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume. This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $55,000- $65,000 and may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance. Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on certain projects. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
