Your Opportunity

The Scion Group is paving a path in student living, and we are seeking a talented Business Development Manager to join us in executing our vision. The position will focus on generating new relationships and revenue opportunities by partnering with national/global university organizations and vendors to achieve annual and long-term resident satisfaction and financial objectives. An experienced B2B sales professional with experience launching new initiatives and programs would be an ideal fit for this role.

The Business Development Manager is a strategic leader that excels in a fast-paced, agile, corporate sales environment. This role demands principled business thinking, well-honed leasing and sales skills, a stubborn refusal to settle, and an appreciation for bold innovation.

Business Development

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to gain access to and win enterprise-level student housing agreements and university partnerships by developing relationships with campus groups and organizations such as athletics, scholastic clubs, and international/study abroad programs.
  • Prioritize university markets based on viable revenue and partnership opportunities where resources should be deployed most heavily.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, market/university analysis, and revenue forecasts to senior management. Utilize data-driven insights to make informed business decisions.
  • Elevate the Scion brand by leveraging Scion’s student tenant population on a local level including retail, university/local organizations, and businesses.
  • Support the creation and implementation of pricing and rate strategies alongside the Director of Sales and in partnership with revenue management.
  • Work with the sales analyst team to prepare accurate, reliable forecasting reports for executive management. 

Ancillary Revenue

  • Establish partnerships with local businesses and service providers to offer exclusive deals and promotions to Scion residents.
  • Negotiate sponsorships and advertising opportunities that align with Scion brand values and resonate with the student demographic.
  • Regularly track and analyze the performance of ancillary revenue initiatives. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting successes and recommending adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as procurement and marketing to identify opportunities to enhance our current amenities and services offerings.
  • Join forces with our property site team members to stay informed on resident experience issues/opportunities.

What We Are Looking For 

  • Sales professional with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience crafting a business plan and driving revenue.
  • Sharp business and sales acumen.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills as well as a professional attitude.
  • Established negotiator.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment with highly skilled professionals.
  • Knowledge of the Student Housing/Multi-family industry, current market trends, and economic factors is a plus
  • Willingness to travel 25-30% to universities and campus organizations.
