JOB SUMMARY:
Continuously exemplifies the SDG, Satcom Direct (SD) missions, values and customer service philosophy connected with job performance and cooperative team interactions.
Responsible for the overall coordination and management of sales activities and goals, specifically related to the US Govt. and commercial aeronautical market sector for SDG. Develops, plans, and coordinates sales strategies for the sector and with any other sector selling into the SDG market to maximize customer responsiveness, to meet business objectives and achieve maximum results. Works closely with SDG Sales and Customer Support to ensure front-end processes are closely aligned, opportunities are closely monitored and coordinated and sales procedures and operations are consistent across the sector and across business units for identification, pursuit, close, and execution for outstanding customer experience. Drives pipeline revenue and customer relationship management (CRM) processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform the job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of SDG operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are a partial list of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:
- Develop an annual business plan in coordination with SDG Leadership to meet or exceed assigned goals for existing and new business accounts that clearly links the territory revenue commitment to forecasted revenue opportunities.
- Design customer specific, value-based solutions to ensure that sales objectives for new revenue are attained.
- Develop comprehensive tactics and strategies to maintain a high value prospecting pipeline that includes minimum quantities of regular face-to-face client meetings, proposals and client presentations.
- Maintain or sign-up for current industry association memberships and trade show participation.
- Execute the business plan and track performance of successfully closed leads and opportunities within SDG's standard reporting tools and CRM.
- Responsible for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database management and processes to ensure efficient and effective management of the sector pipeline and customer knowledge.
- Conduct fact finding research (through business periodicals and web sites) to understand each prospect's business needs that align to SDG, and SD's solutions before offering any services.
- Influence the evaluation criteria to ensure successful bids then respond to requests for proposals in a timely and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with the SDG management team and customer support teams to continuously improve customer satisfaction and uncover new business opportunities.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of SDG's market positioning, messaging and strategy.
- Build industry association relationships with strategic partners and other key contacts, as appropriate.
- Provide pertinent information about key account, territory and industry changes to the leadership team, focusing on industry opportunities.
- Review competitor plans and effect of products and services; prepare pricing strategies per customer budgets and procurement methods
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
- College degree in business administration or equivalent experience is required.
- Several years of sales and activations experience in an aerospace environment.
- Thorough knowledge of company processes, instructions and export compliance.
- Thorough product knowledge of specific market segment.
- Thorough knowledge of sales/marketing computer information systems.
- Frequent travel required.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
- An emphasis on Government Aeronautical Business and Aviation.
- Demonstrated ability to sell intangible solutions in a professional manner.
- Executive selling skills proven through experience in selling to senior executives in government agencies and/or successful completion of formal sales training programs is a plus; or a comparable combination of both industry related work experience and education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact successfully with internal and external contacts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work within a team as well as independently.
- Effective and confident decision making and problem solving skills, especially under time constraints.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Microsoft CRM a plus.
- Successful candidates may be subject to background check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift light objects (< 25lbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone. In addition there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The office environment is generally quiet and in a temperature controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands. Some overnight travel is required to facilitate work objectives. While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.
