Job Summary
The Business Development Manager will work with the Shinola Corporate Sales team and will be primarily responsible for driving new business to meet and exceed set targets. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying prospective opportunities, generating leads, advancing the sales process, closing new business, and assisting in the achievement of opportunity-based sales quotas. The Business Development Manager will conduct research to develop new strategies, identify new leads, and will collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, and Store Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Communicating the Shinola brand to the larger corporate community to drive revenue
- Developing & managing lead generation.
- Building and maintaining long-lasting customer relationships and identifying areas for growing sales opportunities
- Developing and sourcing contacts for sales outreach and cold call activity
- Developing sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts
- Identifying decision makers within targeted leads to begin the sales process
- Collaborating with appropriate Shinola team members to determine necessary strategic sales approaches
- Maintaining and expanding the company’s database of prospects
- Ensuring follow-up by passing leads to appropriate team members with calls to action, dates, complete profile information, sources, etc.
- Creating and delivering sales presentations, product/service demonstrations, and other sales actions
- When necessary, supporting marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibits, and other events
- Making outbound follow up calls to existing clients via telephone and email to cross sell and upsell
- Entering customer data and updating changes to existing accounts in the corporate database
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in related field - preferred
- 8-10 years of direct work experience in a sales capacity, as a business development manager, sales executive, or a relevant role
- Existing database of qualified customer leads or contacts preferred
- Demonstrated ability to convert prospects, close deals, and achieve sales quotas
- Solid experience in opportunity qualification, precall planning, call control, account development, and time management
- Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision-makers
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
- Comfortable giving public presentations
