Wilson Sonsini is seeking a Business Development Manager that will play a pivotal role in proactively generating and supporting the business development and marketing opportunities for select groups of partners in our Corporate Department. The successful candidate will have a wide and deep knowledge base of the financial markets with an emphasis on the venture capital ecosystem across all industry verticals; prior experience mentoring junior level business development professionals; significant Big Law business development experience; and a high comfort level working in an entrepreneurial environment. The role will report to the Senior Business Development Manager of the Emerging Companies Practice.

Responsibilities:
- Proactively research and identify early- and growth-stage companies for client targeting initiatives and pipeline development, as well as opportunities to expand current client relationships, and track in Salesforce
- Prepare research materials and prep documents for attorney's pitches, events, client meetings and other BD activities
- Provide business intelligence on markets, clients, prospects, competitors, and individuals
- Support partners in the management of their contacts, including being top-of-mind with priority contacts and track and organize the partners' ongoing BD efforts in Salesforce
- Train and work with partners' EAs to help with Salesforce tracking
- Draft introductions, reminders, confirmations, and other correspondence and emails
- Assess and manage relationships with various ecosystem partners, events, organizations, and sponsorships
- Attend and secure speaking engagements at events and coordinate with partners attending in developing quality leads and track ROI
- Support Events team with local event pre-planning and production
- Support partners with screening of certain unfunded start-up opportunities
- Generate targeted sources of financing for select clients seeking funding from VC contacts
- Track inbound and outbound referrals with VCs and other ecosystem partners
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree required; MBA, JD, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience working in a top-tier law firm, investment bank, private equity firm, accounting firm, or equivalent
- Advanced skills in market research and analysis
- Insatiable drive to mine for and pursue highly targeted opportunities in lockstep collaboration with senior rainmakers
The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations are also listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:
San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $131,750 - $178,250 per year
Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $119,000 - $161,000 per year
Salt Lake City and all other locations: $105,400 - $142,600 per year
The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
