About the Role:
Platform Science is hiring a Business Development Representative focused on adding qualified leads to the pipeline by researching, reaching out to, and qualifying potential business opportunities over email, phone, and other methods, within our target verticals. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, and working with a team of passionate colleagues, you will be involved in shaping the future of our company. We are founded on the mission of making transportation smart.
What you’ll do:
- Research and gather intelligence on potential leads into targeted accounts
- Generate interest and opportunity through sequences including cold calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and other organic ways (warm intros/referrals, etc)
- Qualify inbound leads and convert them into sales qualified opportunities
- Effectively discuss the value of the platform and relate it to potential customer organizations
- Develop an understanding of carrier’s needs, buyer personas, and what’s most important to them
- Help identify customer and business trends and provide feedback to sales, marketing, and product teams
- Collaborate with the marketing team to deliver proper messaging and identify the best target verticals
- Keep your ear to the ground and be aware of relevant happenings within the industry
- Proactively take on new initiatives and share ideas on improving our approach
- Keep activities up to date in Salesforce
Experience:
- 6+ months experience working in a prospecting role (Sales or Business Development, Inside Sales, Telemarketing, or Lead responsibilities)
- Experience with Enterprise SaaS platforms, preferably in a transportation setting
- Excellent listening skills that allow you to form an understanding of the needs of the prospect and what business challenges they run into
- Exceptional communication skills that allow you to translate the features and functions of the platform into value for the prospect
- Comfort in interacting with both technical and business stakeholders; familiar in high level technical and commercial concepts of a SaaS business
- Exhibits a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to work in a hyper-growth environment. In other words, roll up your sleeves and thrive in a fast-paced start-up
- Transportation technology (telematics / TMS) experience a plus

Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated hourly rate for this position is between $24.04 and $43.27 per hour. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire hourly rates across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant trainings and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The hourly pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for commission, equity, and benefits.
