Role Overview:
As a Business Development Representative (SME) you will be responsible for developing and building strategic relationships that lead to longterm successful outcomes for Newchip in our top ranked Series A industry verticals:
- B2B Software and Services
- Healthcare
- Consumer Goods & Services
- Financial Technology
- Industrial
Your role will be to become an expert in 1-2 startup and tech industry verticals, developing relationships in the industry, and actively sourcing quality startups in those verticals for our Series A programs. In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have superb interpersonal skills, intellect, charisma, and a desire to constantly learn.
You will develop and execute strategies that effectively engage with startups looking to fundraise and scale. Your job will be to communicate the value of the Newchip accelerator program and the benefits of it to startups, encouraging CEO's to apply and ultimately take a call with a Venture Associate during our application and admissions process.
Over time, your success will be measured by how many high quality companies you are able to 1. Identify and 2. Establish Relationships with and the 3. Number that apply to our Series A program.
Roles at Newchip have a base salary with uncapped commissions, paid employee benefits, and success based incentive goals (paid monthly, quarterly, and yearly):
Role OTE: $113,000
Base Pay (Based on Experience): $50,000-$65,000
Commission at 100% of Quota: $25,000
Stock Bonus: $10,000 Per Year
FT / PT: Full time only, no contractors or part-time.

Responsibilities:
- Achieve agreed upon personal and team targets, quotas, and outcomes within schedule
- Reach out to qualified in-bound leads through email, text, LinkedIn messaging, and direct calls
- Qualify leads, research accounts, and follow through on leads to close partnerships
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
- Understanding and promoting company programs and initiatives with up-sells
- Present, promote and sell products/services using solid arguments to existing and prospective customers
- Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
- Coordinate effort with team members and other departments at Newchip
- Analyze the territory/market's potential, track deals and status reports
- Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends in the market
- Continuously improve through feedback and coaching with management and team
- Provide management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
Requirements
- Proven experience (6m-1yr minimum) in Business Development, Sales Development, Marketing, or similar roles
- Hands-on experience with multiple sales and sales funnel techniques
- Track record of achieving quotas and most importantly maintaining client relationships
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Bachelor's degree
- Able to work in Austin, TX office
Preferred:
- Intimate knowledge of a specific vertical or industry, our partners, and Newchip
- Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, Hubspot, etc)
- Understanding of sales and goal oriented performance metrics
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workflows
- High attention to detail and ability to solve problems
- A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
