Business Development Skillbridge Rotational Internship

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking to hire a rotational intern to join our Business Development team. In this role, you will learn and work in the Foreign Exchange and Cryptocurrency teams and liaise directly with business leads and team members. 

Over the course of the internship, you will learn how to price Spot FX and FX Forwards across multiple deliverable and ndf currencies, have opportunities to deal with technical documentation of exchanges and learn more about the means of trading via REST, WebSockets and FIX (Financial Information eXchange) protocols, and learn about idiosyncratic issues associating cryptocurrency trading and settlement. You will also learn general best practices when working within financial services and how firms like HRT employ both buy- and sell-side functions within numerous markets.  

Responsibilities

• Engage with HRT’s counterparties to include exchanges and banks
• Learn about FX and cryptocurrency market structure
• Develop an external network within the FX and cryptocurrency business world
• Learn about the different functions at HRT’s counterparties and help manage HRT’s engagement with them, including Business Development, Business Operations, Technology Support, Post Trade Operations, etc.
• Engage with HRT’s service providers to include data brokers and connectivity providers
• Learn about service providers in the FX and cryptocurrency ecosystem
• Maintain receipts and catalog of services provided and associated costs
• Work with Treasury Operations on cryptocurrency back office initiatives
• Leverage your existing operational and organizational management skills to existing problem sets at HRT and help development sustainable processes around:
• Vendor engagement and records maintenance
• Wiki utilization
• Meeting process improvement – help record minutes, due-outs, and other key information relevant to stakeholders and assist in improvement/management of meetings
• Technical documentation (ie: specs) and changelogs
• Customer Relationship Management systems and processes
• Work alongside HRTers in business development roles providing tangential access to a variety of other assets including, but not limited to, equities, futures, and fixed income

Qualifications

• Applicants must be eligible to participate in CSP/Skillbridge to be considered
• Must be able to commit to an internship duration of up to 90 days 
• Must be able to start around September 1, 2023. Start date is flexible depending on candidate’s availability
• Strong academic background in math, computer science, engineering, or hard sciences preferred
• Working knowledge of a coding language- Python, Java, C++, etc strongly preferred
• Interest in financial markets and electronic trading required

Compensation for the Skillbridge internship is in accordance with DoD Guidelines governing participation of active duty service members in the program.
