Business Development Specialist (Hedge Fund segment)
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Development Specialist will drive new business growth within our North America Hedge Fund segment, engaging new logos as well as driving client upsells and expansions (in collaboration with client experience team). The ideal candidate would either have experience working directly within the institutional investment management industry (e.g., hedge fund/asset manager, investor, or investment consultant) or experience selling into it (service provider). Exceptional candidates with experience selling software or subscription-based services (SaaS) may also be considered.
A hunter mindset and "bias for action" is critical, as this segment contains significant logo white space and this role will be focused on generating leads independently leveraging key internal resources (hedge fund data reported to eVestment), in addition to converting company-generated leads from outbound marketing and SDR efforts.
This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills in working directly with the sales team, and also with the broader organization cross-functionally. "Acting as an owner" and "Playing as a team" are two critical Nasdaq core values that our most successful team members display.
Rooted in a deep understanding of the value proposition eVestment offers to hedge funds, this role will involve calling on key decision-makers (C-suite) as well as mid to junior level associates, to build client consensus successfully. In addition, looping in relevant technical resources (sales specialist group) and client onboarding teams at the right time is incredibly important. The right candidate will have an ability to read an audience (in person or Zoom), build trust quickly with prospective clients, and manage the client evaluation / sales process in an efficiently and effecively.
Key requirements:
- 5 years experience
- Must be a results-driven self-starter, with a will to win and continuous-improvement mindset
- Must be a strategic thinker, able to create and critically assess territory growth plans and execute tactics
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills (presentation/written/verbal) with attention to detail.
- Must be process-driven and committed to log/maintain daily records of activity in CRM (Salesforce).
- Must continuously demonstrate real-time knowledge of your territory and sales pipeline through accurate forecasting
- Must take initiative and collaborate with others well, bringing in additional resources as needed to ensure success.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
