Business Intelligence Analyst

We are seeking an exceptional Business Intelligence Analyst to join our rapidly growing workforce in Chicago.

In this newly created role, the Business Intelligence Analyst will deliver data-driven insights across various departments in the firm based off user data and trading history. The function will sit directly with the trading and risk team at ThinkMarkets but will have a much broader mandate to help senior managers identify trends and make a wide spectrum of decisions about regional focus, with an emphasis on specific products or asset classes, and marketing initiatives. The BI Analyst will have access to a series of proprietary databases and routinely liaise with senior management for actionable insights.   

A successful candidate will excel in the design of Business Intelligence information models, dashboards, metrics and reports utilizing standard technologies and methodologies that meet business objectives and solutions. Central to success in this role is the ability to determine, define, and deploy insightful descriptive/diagnostic analytic solutions utilizing BI tools such as Tableau in conjunction with SQL databases.

Responsibilities:

• Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
• Conceptualize, develop, and maintain dashboards and visualizations that inform both tactical and strategic decision making
• Understand reporting requirements of various departments within the firm and proactively develop solutions and enhancements for business reporting needs
• Help leadership make critical investment and strategic decisions through a BI-led approach to generating insights that are rapid, scalable, and repeatable
• Work with specialists in data science, analytics, engineering, and trading disciplines to develop reliable and reproducible analyses and models at scale
• Deliver well-documented datasets, tools, and reports to key technical and business team members

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years experience in an analytical or technical role
• 2+ years experience with SQL programming
• Proven ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings
• Familiarity with BI tools is preferred (Tableau, Looker, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated project ownership or leadership experience
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• MBA and graduate school graduates welcome
• Experience working within start-up environments is preferred
• Prior work experience at a high-growth finance tech company
