Position Overview:

 Outset Medical is seeking a motivated Business Intelligence Analyst who will transform data into actionable insights that drive informed decision-making in our commercial service operations. This individual will drive strategy and execution of analytics, including development of leading and lagging performance indicators; data extraction, ad-hoc reporting, data automation through use of databases, data warehouses and data lakes. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in commercial service operations in a medical industry environment. He/she will possess strong visualization skills and experience building and managing dashboards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Data Collection and Integration:
    • Gather, clean, and integrate various data sources and data warehouses for Service & Support metrics.
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency for meaningful analysis.
    • Play a key role in data governance by developing data standards and data integrity monitoring.
  • Reporting and Dashboards:
    • Use visualizations to summarize data for management, executives, customers, and key teams (Field Service, Technical Support, Customer Success, Home Operations).
    • Design and develop informative standardized dashboards and reports to track key metrics, performance indicators and trends.
    • Undertake ad-hoc analysis and support special projects as requested by senior management.
  • Performance Analysis:
    • Develop highly effective ways of using data to influence decisions and suggest business actions.
    • Proactively explore service and product performance data to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends to assist in establishing strategies and policies to drive efficiency improvements to support the growth of the business.
    • Develop a range of analytics products from exploratory data analysis to predictive and prescriptive models, guided by business priorities.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Collaborate with executives and operational managers to translate the business needs into analytic and reporting strategies.  
    • Act as a thought partner for business owners, providing strong analytical recommendations based on a combination of data and a broader business context.
  • Trend Analysis and Insights:
    • Articulate analytical findings in clear and concise deliverables, including presentations, discussions, and visualizations to inform stakeholders and validate business strategy.
    • Analyze and interpret operational data and provide recommendations based on the results.
  • Forecasting and Planning:
    • Utilize historical data, sales and service contract forecasts, and predictive modeling techniques to generate accurate support capacity & staffing planning projections
  • Support:
    • Educate and train the user community on reports and visualization tools.
    • Train users to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information correctly.
    • Engage IT support for future business enhancements within our applications (identify areas of improvement, functional spec, script testing, project management).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Businessor other areas of relevance (e.g., Science, Engineering, Business)
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in a medical device/life sciences environment
  • Strong analytical skillset and ability to translate business processes and data into insights and solutions.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce) and service management platforms.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint)

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong SQL and data querying abilities for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Problem solving mindset, and an outstanding business data analytics acumen.
  • Solutions-driven ability to evaluate situations, and quickly and efficiently identify options resulting in appropriate outcomes.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability working in a complex, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborates well with colleagues and internal/external customers.
  • Stays up to date on new technologies and methods across data science and data visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization, both with technical and non- technical team members
  • Proven leadership of analytic initiatives in fast-paced, multiple data project environment
  • Hands on knowledge of statistical methods and techniques (predictive modeling, segmentation, regression, etc.)
