Description

We are seeking a developer that can help us turn Data into Intelligence!The BI Developer will design, create, and maintain databases with an emphasis on Business Intelligence databases and data models. You will consult with and advise users on access to databases. You will be working with industry leading tools. You will build and maintain our data warehouses with tools like Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS. You will build data models using Power BI. We manage our code with Azure DevOps and Git. You will have the opportunity to work with citizen developers to support them as they create reports and data models.

Key Responsibilities

Database administration

• Provides input to database architectures to address business requirements, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability.
• Monitors databases to ensure uptime and quality.
• Provides input to database strategies and standards to support business applications.
• Configures database parameters.
• Maintains database security.
• Performs database backup and recovery.

Database Development

• Designs and codes application interfaces and data transfer mechanisms as required to support and integrate business applications.
• Assists in the design of data warehouse databases and tabular data models to deliver Business Intelligence reporting.
• Writes scripts and queries for business applications, and/or ad-hoc data analysis.

Service Operation

• Responds to internal customers to resolve their technology problems.
• Enters and manages Incident and Service Request tickets in ServiceNow, IT Service Management Application.
• Provides technical support for databases and database-based integrations used by Franklin Electric employees across all business functions.
• Occasionally provides off-hours support on evenings and weekends and participates in an on-call rotation as needed.
• Must maintain or exceed Service Level Agreements for Incident Resolution. This will be measured based on Incident Duration for the team.

Request and Change Management

• Ensures all changes and requests are entered in ServiceNow.
• Ensures the fulfillment of end user requests for databases and database-based integrations.
• Reviews the forward schedule of changes for potential conflicts.

Project Management

• Participates as a resource on project led by others.
• Completes assigned project tasks on time and with high quality.
• May lead small projects related to databases and database-based integrations.

Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• Coding - Designs, codes, debugs and documents database applications/integrations to deliver business outcomes.
• Communication - Delivers accurate, clear, and concise messages orally and/or in writing.
• Problem Solving - Uses a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem, determining the most likely cause by eliminating potential causes of a problem.
• Decision Making - Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares alternatives and makes timely decisions.
• Meeting Facilitation - Plans and facilitates meetings of IT teammates, internal customers, or technology suppliers to share information and/or make collaborative decisions.
• Requirements Definition - Elicits and documents a clear, concise and agreed set of internal customer requirements.
• Testing - Plans and facilitates validation activities to ensure a technology solution meets defined requirements.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, related degree, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
• Five years of related experience (preferred).
