Business Intelligence Developer - Analytics Engineering

Medica's Enterprise Analytics department is seeking a developer to join our Analytics Engineering team.

The Analytics Engineering team works to create function/project specific data sets that are clean, well-documented, and ready for use in analysis and reporting. They increase transparency and quality by applying and teaching best practices from software engineering such as automation, version control, and testing.

You will gain exposure to a variety of health insurance analytic functions while using your excellent technical skills to help lead the way as we work to adopt modern tools such as the Snowflake data warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Creates function/project specific data sets that are clean, transformed, well documented, and ready for use in analysis.
• Increase transparency and quality by applying best practices from software engineering such as version control, testing, automation, peer review
• Identify the best source of data based on project need
• Develop clear communication and documentation for stakeholder teams around data set status, quality, changes, definitions, etc.
• Support enterprise analytics teams contributing code, metrics, etc. to the department DataMart
• Represent the team in Medica's data governance program
• Participate in projects with the IT Enterprise Data Management team: providing requirements, participating in user testing, submitting incidents identified by enterprise analytics team members

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a field such as computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, data science, economics, actuarial science, or similar
• Proficiency with SQL and Python
• Understanding of common data warehouse concepts and structures
• Experience using git for version control
• 3+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with health insurance data such as claims, pharmacy, enrollment, clinical
• Familiarity with health plan analytic functions (risk adjustment, population health, trend, quality, actuarial)
• Experience with the Snowflake cloud data warehouse

Nice to Have:

• Understanding of data visualization tools such as Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau
• SAS and R programming experience
