Job Description
The Business Intelligence Engineer 2 solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Business Intelligence Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Business Intelligence Engineer 2 describes the tools, technologies, applications and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present an organization's raw data in order to create insightful and actionable business information. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
The Business Intelligence Engineer 2 will be supporting business-area created technology solutions which necessitate familiarity with Oracle, SAS and SQL server databases as well as knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and python. Strong communication and organizational skills will be used to collaborate with business partners in creating and fulfilling development, process, and reporting needs.
- Analyzes a wide variety of member, claims and provider data to derive insights
- Creates, designs, and customizes data visualizations, including charts, tables, and report layouts
- Work directly with market associates, helping them leverage data and technology to maximize business impact
- Write queries to pull/summarize/analyze data from various data sets and platforms

Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in SQL, SAS or other database systems
- 1+ years of experience in data analysis
- In-depth experience in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivots, charts, graphs, etc.
- Experience in assessing complex data sets, identifying trends and generating insights
- Experience in verbal and written communication
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Synapse Analytics platform
- Python experience
- Experience with Humana data sets
- Ability to use data to drive business outcomes and decisions
Additional Information
Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.

- WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
