The Business Intelligence Engineer solves moderately complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insights to decision-makers. This associate will focus on reporting and business intelligence solutions in support of Humana's medical record review activities for Medicare Advantage members. This team supports the retrieval and medical coding of millions of medical documents annually to support CMS regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
The Business Intelligence Engineer identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to guide business decisions. Develops reporting and analysis based on business needs. Provides consultation to users and may participate in cross-functional teams to address business issues. Exercises latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across a wide variety of assignments, developing within areas including databases, reporting systems, and applications.
- Provides data and analysis to drive improvements in risk adjustment retrospective medical record review activities
- Builds and maintains moderately-complex databases, ETL processes, and internal applications to support analytic and operational needs
- Works with internal and external business partners on the development of business processes, metrics, and reporting
- Researches and recommends potential new technologies to implement and improve analytical procedures
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in Humana's Senior Products/MRA Business Intelligence and Analytics team?
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of technical experience in data analysis
- Experience analyzing data and creating data visualizations to solve moderately complex business problems
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication to operational areas and teammates
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to deliver creative solutions to business problems
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a passion for continual improvement
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations
- Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data
- Experience using Power BI to create data visualizations
- Experience developing large databases for analysis and reporting
- Advanced experience in SQL and other data systems
