About the Role

Pure is looking for an accomplished Business Operations Lead to report to the GM of the Platform Business Unit as an individual contributor.    The BU is the organization developing the storage systems, and operating Pure’s data centers across the globe.

As the right hand person and member of the GM’s direct staff, a strategic and operationally strong leader will provide a wide range of support.   The goal is to give the GM visibility in real-time to the critical financial, operational and resource data of the business unit.   As this is a leadership role, the person will be a decision maker, helping to make tradeoffs to achieve our business goals.

This critical role focuses on empowering the Business Unit and its close partnership with Finance, Talent Acquisition, and other BUs. Being effective in this pivotal role requires a natural ability to build strong, trusting partnerships across the organization and drive progress on key initiatives, cross-functional projects and effective communications to executive leadership.

This role is responsible for managing budget, headcount, and key performance metrics. It requires a background in summarizing and controlling critical business reports.  Data analysis background is preferred, as is a familiarity with the creation of real-time dashboards.

What you will do:

  • Managing budget, headcount, and key performance metrics across engineering, product management, and data center operations.
  • Drive and track strategy execution from the lens of business metrics
  • Support the GM in setting and communicating overall goals and key performance metrics for the business unit.
  • Be an advisor and thought partner to the GM, and be able to stand-in during meetings, and speak on behalf of the GM.
  • Help the BU make clear and efficient decisions.
  • Align and sync with other business operations leaders around the company, in Finance, HR, and operations.
  • Keep a pulse on all facets of Product Management, Development, and the broader business and gather/prioritize information and feedback that is critical for the GM to be aware of.
  • Provide real-time data analysis of the critical business metrics, OKRs, and KPIs
  • Provide the GM with real time feedback on budget, headcount, expenses, and performance versus goals.
  • Schedule/attend all business operations related meetings: establishing agendas and preparing presentations, taking meeting minutes, and ensuring action on all follow-up items.
  • Spearhead a wide range of internal communications, including all executive reviews and all-hands meetings.
  • Undertake special projects that are time sensitive and/or confidential in nature.

What will you bring?

Results Orientation:

  • Deep familiarity with managing, presenting, and analyzing critical business data; and the tools associated with this task
  • Get it done attitude, not dependent on others to formulate positions and defend strategic direction
  • Familiarity with system development, enterprise datacenter operations, or engineering team dynamics is a plus
  • Experience in structuring and executing complex analyses to support strategy in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

Influencing Skills:

  • Must possess the executive presence, credibility and tenacity to successfully influence, build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse set of internal partners.
  • Highly-driven personality and the ability to drive consensus and alignment
  • Proven conflict management skills and history of building 'win-win' partnerships.

Requirements (Education, Certification, Training, and Experience)

  • BA/BS degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or Finance).
  • MBA or Master's degree in a management, technical or engineering field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in an operational role
