BUSINESS OPERATIONS ANALYST CAPITAL MARKETS


WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Capital Markets Business Operations Analyst assists and supports the business operational activity, risk and compliance functions for Syndications, Interest Rate Risk Management, Foreign Exchange, and International Banking and Trade Finance (including Supply Chain Finance). Works with management and key parties to incorporate operational integrity into all aspects of the Capital Markets unit delivery channel. Supports risk associated with the operational aspects of client relationships and their business transactions. Monitors and maintains procedures for compliance to bank policies and industry regulations. Assists with RBC Migrations and Initiatives while closely working with Business Manager and CNB Partners including Treasury, Finance, B&IS and the Lines of Businesses.


Specialty Banking Division
As a member of the Specialty Banking group, you will help to bring extensive industry knowledge to commercial clients in specialized segments and deliver an unmatched level of service. Specialty Banking is comprised of several teams of experienced bankers with niche market knowledge and niche financial proficiency, promoting solutions rather than products.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Supports the business operational activity of the Capital Markets units.
  • Works with Business Manager to ensure activities are in compliance with legal/regulatory requirements and CNB policy and procedure with specific emphasis on Heightened Standards requirements.
  • Works closely with Capital Markets teams, RBC and First and Second Line Risk Management to enhance the units operational program; identifying and evaluating key areas of risk and assisting with the remediation efforts as appropriate.
  • Identify, recommend, and support implementation for new processes, procedures and products to improve workflow, efficiency and/or profitability working closely with front, middle and back office operations.
  • Responsible for the management of the Business Continuity Plan and Business Impact Analysis.
  • Supports Business System analyst to ensure data is accurately managed, reconciled and reported to RBC and Senior Management.
  • Review and conduct ongoing inspections of key activities performed within the Capital Markets teams to ensure compliance to Risk Policies.
  • Tracks and Monitors all outstanding internal and external audit issues to ensure timely closure and effective remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with Mandatory Absence Policy requirements.
  • Assists with Vendor risk management activities, which includes ongoing annual and interim risk assessments as well as regular user access management.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and courteous relationships with both internal colleagues and external customers
  • Responsible and accountable for appropriate quality controls related to the financial products the bank provides, the services the bank delivers, the processes employed and the incentives with which colleagues are awarded.

  • Establish and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business teams, RBC, product/coverage partners and support teams.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in business or accounting Or
  • Minimum 3 years of operational experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the financial services sector
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in risk management or compliance in a banking or lending environment
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Project Management or leadership role


Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of risks associated with operations and industry best practices.
  • Strong operational risk background.
  • Strong banking and/or capital markets background.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain cordial/professional relationships with clients/colleagues; collaborative team player
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks within established time frames and with a focus on quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, company managers, and clients in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills (ability to interact with both external and internal customers).
  • Strong technical/systems skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, critical thinking, analytical and proactive problem solving skills with attention to detail.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $87,027 - $138,965 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
