The Business Partner - Financial Systems will work closely with the VP of Accounting & Finance as well as other key business stakeholders in the delivery of integrated financial solutions and data visualizations for RedShelf. In this role, you will facilitate the transformation of RedShelf’s financial data management while appropriately supporting and eventually sunsetting legacy systems. This transformation will encompass the integration of RedShelf proprietary systems with ERP and other off-the-shelf business systems, the optimization of proprietary and ERP tools, and the implementation of certain core ERP functionality. The Business Partner will support key stakeholders by taking ownership of tasks geared toward maximizing the value of our business systems. Such tasks span financial strategy, financial design / system configuration, quality assurance, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and internal/external communications
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the transformation of RedShelfs financial data management, inclusive of the following elements:
- Liaise with other functional teams, including finance, content & supply chain, customer success, sales, software development, and project management
- Understand, document and maintain core business/system process flows for current and future state
- Clearly articulate business problems and requirements to cross-functional teams for optimal solution assessment
- Create functional specifications that clearly communicate detailed functionality and architecture
- Must be able to own the creation, refinement, re-prioritization, and overall management of the ERP system processes and backlog on a sprint-by-sprint basis
- Communicate the configuration requirements to stakeholders and developers.
- Have an intimate knowledge of the business systems supported and the customers (primarily internal) the product-market-fit is focused on.
- Aiding in quantifying the business value (whether customer value, operational value, or strategic value) related to RedShelf’s key business initiatives, and ultimately, the work the technology team will execute on.
- Break down agile epics into user stories, help to prioritize them based on business value, and work closely with development teams to make these stories come to life.
- Assist with shaping the primarily internal customer experience (CX) of new features and functionality of business systems.
- Must be able to create Epics and write Stories in Agile fashion, keeping in mind the ‘definition of ready’.
- Partners closely with the Director of Engineering to ensure alignment on upcoming initiatives.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of Financial Analyst/ Business Partner in a role emphasizing financial systems and ERP.
- 3+ years of experience supporting ecommerce, manufacturing or distribution business models
- 3+ years of experience working in NetSuite (finance) or other equivalent ERP environment
- 3+ years of proven experience working on business and systems analysis, developing requirements documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of coordinating and using analytical skills to enable data driven decision making.
- Ability to define and translate a vision into detailed and actionable plans.
- Excel at coordinating multiple projects at a time.
- The ability to make quick decisions to solve complex technical and operational challenges.
- Puts focus on supporting team interaction, boosting motivation, and appreciating contributions.
- Comfort or experience in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to gather required data and proper data validations supporting the end results.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Finance, Accounting or other technical related field.
Other Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Comfort and/or experience in a fast-paced, growing environment
- Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in higher educational software, course materials, and digital publishing.
- Background and/or experience in educational technology and/or publishing.
- Experience with data governance, a plus
- Experience in FinTech, Payments, and Accounting GL systems, a plus.
