What you will do
The Product Owner (PO) will join and help lead one or more SCRUM teams contributing to our market leading Navigator Platform. The PO will be the primary interface between Product Management, User Experience, and Development Teams to ensure developed solutions meet business and customer needs/requirements.
This position requires the ability to analyze business needs, define customer/user/business requirements, translate product features into user stories, use cases, and software requirements to ensure the solution is meeting the business needs. Additionally, the position is responsible for maintaining and prioritizing the SCRUM Team(s) Product Backlog and Sprint-by-Sprint forecast. The position is also responsible for coordinating and contributing to an overall Program release plan.
How you will do it
Product Owner
- Interface with Product Owners and Business leaders to turn prioritized requirements into planned user stories. Guide work iteration tempo as it relates to the forecast versus team velocity and release schedule. Often accomplished by building a plan towards market release timing that includes: product quality goals and testing, documentation, support training, sales training, marketing preparation, operations and deployment needs, etc
- Create and negotiate the steps leading to a successful release point.
- Prioritize the work in the SCRUM Team(s) backlog. Including but not limited to: Issue prioritization, change management, and schedule changes.
- Responsible for maintaining the Product/Feature Backlog and Sprint-by-Sprint forecast.
- Identify and manage priority vs. speed to market decisions. Resolve priority conflicts.
- Identify and mitigate risks and identify and resolve issues.
- Closely negotiate the priority of Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) and Technical Debt with Product Management.
- In partnering with SCRUM Master, manage requirement dependencies between Products/Features.
Leader
- Serve as a focal point within the team. Motivate team members by providing compelling goals and objectives.
- Able to make hard choices on priority and business value.
- Guide, motivate, and listen to the SCRUM Team(s) in finding creative ways to deliver more value with less scope and effort.
- In partnering with Delivery Lead/SCRUM Master, defend the SCRUM Team(s) and help remove relevant impediments.
- Engage with the SCRUM Team(s) at the appropriate level in all SCRUM ceremonies:
o Master of ceremonies of the Sprint Review
o Responsible for ensuring stakeholder engagement at the Sprint Review
- Come to understand what the SCRUM Team's strengths are and leverage them to advantage in project workflow.
- Balance multiple projects and timelines.
- Mentor/coach other PO/BAs.
- Maintains long-term relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
What we look for
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related technical field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interviewing and questioning skills. Facilitation experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills can interact with varied audiences at all levels of an organization tactfully and successfully to obtain any necessary information and drive towards results.
- Ability to quickly acquire a thorough understanding of the products/business/customers/users.
- Capability to take on problems that have unclear direction and very little definition and drive to the details of well understood business value and needs.
- Proven experience developing needed collateral and artifacts for Product Development Teams and partners (Product Management, Architecture, etc).
- Demonstrated success at leading cross functional global Product Development teams to meet business needs.
- 8+ years in a technology-related field with exposure to Product Development and/or Product Management.
- Flexibility to work early hours to meet with international teams.
Preferred
- Experience as a Business Analyst, Development/Test Lead, Project Management, or Product Management.
- Product Owner role experience (or equivalent working in an agile/iterative environment).
- Experience with SCRUM and all its ceremonies.
- BAS, HVAC, Fire Detection, Access Control or related experience.
- Salesforce
- International sales experience
- Online sales experience
