The Fintech Business team at Cross River is looking for a Business Risk Director with experience in Risk Governance and Reporting.  We are seeking someone who will cultivate and foster a working risk culture across all lines of defense, and work closely with Enterprise Risk partners to fulfill upon Cross River’s Enterprise Risk Management framework for ensuring business oversight through appropriate policies, procedures, and management reporting. Specifically, this is a highly visible role within the first line of defense and will engage heavily with Fintech Banking business leaders across Lending, Banking as a Service, and Payment functions to ensure appropriate risk taking through the management of Committee reporting and policy and procedure governance.
The Business Risk Director will support the Fintech Business in the design, implementation, and management of a risk governance strategy with a key focus on establishing a new Fintech Risk Committee and a strategy also dedicated to policy and procedure adherence. This is a position with visibility across second line risk management teams and the Responsible for working with Enterprise Risk Management on the intent and requirements that will align to ERM’s broader corporate requirements. This function will also be responsible for risk reporting and analytics across the entire first line risk function, supporting other risk teams in the analysis of their programs. The Business Risk Director will partner frequently with the second line Enterprise Risk Management teams to influence overall framework requirements and engage in productive problem solving.
The role of the Business Risk Director:
- Design, implement, and manage a first line Fintech Business Risk Committee supporting the Committee Chair in overall strategy and execution.
- Develop Committee content and reporting that’s in line with enterprise committee requirements owned by ERM. Ensure analytics drive insight into business client pipeline activity, risk and escalation reporting, and status of key initiatives (including MRA, audit and issue reporting).
- Shepherd a cross-functional review and data collection to support the committee across a highly matrixed set of stakeholders.
- Actively participate and lead the Committee meeting.
- Craft key communications to be delivered to executives across all lines of defense and board members, as appropriate.
- Support ERM in the management and design over time of the Enterprise GRC system. Provide first line risk reporting requirement that will allow the first line to develop insightful and integrated risk data.
- Lead the development and implementation of new Policy and Procedure program within the Fintech Business. Ensure holistic understanding and adherence to Enterprise Policy Program requirements for content, monitoring, and exception management.
- Develop a risk-based framework with key business leaders to identify and manage procedures that support business processes. Support business owners in the review and implementation of Policy and Procedures.
- Work collaboratively with ERM on Policy Governance and Committee reporting intent and maintenance over time.
EDUCATIONAL & SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree
- 10+ years of risk management experience in Financial Services
- 5+ years in Enterprise Risk Management Role where risk reporting and/or policy oversight was a focus
- Governance, Risk, and Compliance tool experience preferred.
- Experience in the development, implementation, and management of enterprise risk program in the first or second line.Â
DESIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to convey complex messaging succinctly and professionally via PowerPoint presentations highly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills to professionally address a wide and varied audience, including executive management, both internally and externally.
- Experience with policy management, related frameworks, concepts, and practices.
- Customer service oriented with strong communication skills; teamwork oriented
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organization skills, project management skills desirable
- Capability in executing and influencing in a highly matrixed organizational structure.Â
- Strong work ethic, honesty and integrity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Teams) and Archer
- Strategic thinking and ability to influence, collaborate and interact comfortably with multiple levels of the organization
- Work in a fast paced, challenging environment with multiple and competing priorities
- High standard of quality which includes attention to detail, problem solving, analytics and accountability
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and Independent decision-making capabilities
- Experience with data analytics software, including PowerBI or Tableau
