Role Overview

This role will be on the Technology and Application Support team within NF Shared Business Solutions. This position will be providing daily hardware and software support services to our business partners in Annuity, Life and Retirement Solutions as well as other back-office groups. This is an exciting role for individuals that can quickly understand business processes while finding creative and innovative ways to improve and automate them through technology.

Flexible hybrid schedule - office rotation, approximately one day every other week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support hardware, software and business specific applications for SBS, Internal Sales and Service and Field Wholesalers
  • Ordering and configuring appropriate system access
  • Provide support for all SBS owned applications across all areas of NF
  • Manage and prioritize assigned project deliverables
  • Responsible for understanding and documenting business process requirements
  • Identifying opportunities for process efficiency and eliminating manual processing time

  • Knowledge of Nationwide Financial business (Annuity, Life, Retirement Solutions, NBSG, or Licensing & Commissions)

As a Specialist, you'll provide business technology expertise by leading, developing and managing business technology tools and solutions. You'll be responsible for consulting with management and customers to determine solution needs. You will lead, develop, produce and maintain technical solutions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, analyzes, develops, implements and supports technology solutions while understanding desired customer experience.
  • Participates as a member in established Communities of Practice across the various teams and is passionate about effective collaboration.
  • Engages in business stakeholder change management, communication process and training.
  • Presents meaningful recommendations, reports, solutions and documents to internal technology partners to help build understanding and apply business technology solutions.
  • Collaborates with business partners to identify data trends, information, reporting and business productivity solutions.
  • Conducts research on business technology capabilities.
  • Reviews, validates and completes quality checks on the work of other team members and provides mentorship as the need arises.
  • Uses agile practices to implement technology solutions. Participates in established agile process activities such as iteration planning, stand-ups, iteration demos and retrospectives.
  • Identifies, understands and assess dependencies within an iteration, a release and across other product teams.
  • Partners closely with Nationwide Technology team on design, development, testing and implementation of their technology efforts. Prioritizes and re-evaluates requirements throughout the delivery process to ensure project objectives and solution vision are being met.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Director and does not have direct or indirect reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, computer science or related field.

Experience: Typically, six or more years of experience in data/process/database research, analysis support and problem solving.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge and ability to handle complex technology projects and ability to understand and navigate organizational structures, roles and governance. Proven ability to align business technology vision/strategy to support organization-wide change. Solid understanding of a wide variety of business technology tools, concepts and techniques. Solid knowledge of business processes and project management concepts and techniques. Understanding of new technologies and developments in the business technology capacities. Must have ability to connect and effectively communicate to management. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of associates within Nationwide in addition to external parties. Ability to identify and evaluate problems as well as resolve and execute an appropriate course of action. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and handle multiple deliverables concurrently. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, and ability to adapt to a constantly evolving environment.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.
