Job Description

The Business Unit CFO is responsible for managing the business unit's financial analysis function(s), providing leadership and guidance to subordinate managers. Overall accountability for the performance management and career development programs for the Business Unit / functions.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manages the business units financial analysis function(s). Oversees, plans and directs activities within these functions to ensure that business objectives are achieved
  • Conducts cost benefit analysis, evaluating the feasibility, profitability, and cost effectiveness of existing or new products and services
  • Responsible for developing the business unit strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit
  • Develops, plans, and recommends practices and procedures for the proper financial control of the business unit
  • Provides financial/accounting support to the business unit by managing and monitoring revenue and capital expense budgets. Oversees the strategic planning and budgeting process
  • Analyzes revenues/expenditures and provides financial reporting
  • Seasoned leader with extensive business experience, and broad functional expertise, with focus on proactive strategic leadership
  • Responsible for managing multiple units or functions through the direct management of a group of managers
  • Oversees, plans and directs the activities for the Unit, ensuring that Business objectives are being met
  • Develops, implements and communicates an overall strategy to meet both the Business Unit's and Corporation's strategic plan. Directs the activities of those areas toward accomplishing those objectives
  • Assumes accountability for financial and staffing resources, including developing and managing capital and expense budgets, liaising cross-function to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
  • Assumes full accountability for the performance and profitability of the area as compared to the plan.

The successful partner will benefit from having:

  • A College or University degree and/or 10+ years of relevant proven work experience with emphasis on financial analysis and management reporting, planning, and analysis is required.
  • Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment.
  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for the multiple units.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required to evaluate financial results and projections.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to present relevant information to senior management and business unit managers.
  • Strong personal computer skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) are required to perform analyses and communicate financial information to various constituents.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial analysis and work-related work experience is required.
