JOB OVERVIEW:

The butter mill operator is responsible for producing and packing butter products to customer specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• • Responsible for performing pre-operational inspections, line set-up, operational adjustments, continuous process monitoring to ensure that quality and production standards are met and recording material usage. 

  • Performs general housekeeping and various sanitation functions. 

  • Required to collect, measure, graph, and catalog variances, spillage, downtime, foreign material, and other production and product information. Draws samples from product flow and tests for specific quality attributes. Records results. 

  • Daily compliance to Blue Diamond Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), HACCP, and Safety practices and policies. 

  • Required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by supervisor. May be required to perform inventory duties. Directs and coordinates line personnel. Ensures break relief when necessary. 

  • Required to offer guidance to supporting line personnel. 

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and adequate supplies of packaging materials and raw ingredients. 

  • Performs minor maintenance tasks, including (PM’s) Preventative Maintenance Audits 

  • May be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by supervisor. 

  MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS  

  Minimum level of education required.  

  • ​​High School Diploma or GED​  

  Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience. 

  • ​​N/A​  

  Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g., Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.) 

  • Basic PC skills, including some data entry experience required. 

  • Must have excellent communication skills.  

  • Must be able to work under limited supervision. Receives guidance from Managers/Supervisors and Department Leads but is expected to decide what actions to take when handling all but the most unusual task. Must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment. 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and work schedules.  

  • Must have basic math skills.  

  • Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems and form alternative solutions when unusual processing and/or operational issues arise. 

  • Must help maintain product quality while meeting output standards.  

  • Must be able to interpret and accomplish tasks and directives described in complex technical, administrative, professional, and company guidelines.

  • Required to drive forklift and /or transporter. 

  • Overtime as necessary is a requirement to the performance of this position. 

  PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.) 

  • 1 Year industrial machine operation experience. 

  • Some industrial machine operation experience, manufacturing and/or experience in a related field.  

  • Some lift-truck experience.

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be required to communicate with others and regularly climb stairs. On shift employee is constantly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves sitting, walking, and lifting less than 10 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day.
