CAD Designer

Position Summary

We are seeking a self-driven and passionate individual to join our solid-state thermal battery mechanical engineering team.  You will collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to deliver and maintain part-level, sub-assembly, and product-level 3D CAD.  In addition you will help establish, maintain, and teach our best practices for generating 2D drawings, 3D parts and assemblies, and working in our PDM system.  Your work will directly contribute to the demonstration of a first of a kind long-duration energy storage technology.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Antora’s part, sub-assembly, and product assembly CAD (SolidWorks)
• Integrate the work of Antora’s engineering team into a clean product 3D CAD assembly to help drive product decision making
• Create and maintain 2D engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards
• Create and maintain 3D parts (custom and off-the-shelf parts)
• Administer company’s PDM system
• Work closely with change control board to implement design changes in CAD
• Help establish and implement CAD best practices

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years professional experience with SolidWorks 
• 5+ years professional experience creating 2D engineering drawings.  Bonus if familiar with tolerancing schemes.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM
• Experience with sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, and large CAD assemblies
• Experience managing CAD assemblies across organization, creating CAD images for key stakeholders
• Self-driven and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable providing and receiving feedback from other engineers
• Comfortable reviewing the CAD work of other engineers
• Associates or higher degree (or relevant experience) in drafting or engineering

Additional Qualifications Desired

• Experience engineering and designing prototype or production mechanical assemblies
• Experience with custom electrical and cable assembly CAD
• Experience with AutoCAD for site layout drawings
• Able to balance the need to deliver on a tight schedule with the desire to always be making our processes better
• Occasional travel to Sunnyvale HQ (<10%)

Salary Range:  $115,000 USD - $130,000 USD

Salary Basis:  Annual
