Summary: Assists Agents by reviewing new and renewal policies and endorsements to determine insurability following client and company guidelines. Addresses underwriting concerns, obtains all required documentation and takes underwriting action on non-compliant submissions within company guidelines by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives and handles calls regarding bind requests, endorsement requests, cancellations, reinstatements, inspections, missing information and quote submission for acceptability and process.
Provides service to internal and external customers via written and verbal communication on policy coverage risk and/or structure approvals or denials that meet client and company standards.
Reviews applications for insurance coverage, reports from loss control consultants, wind mitigation and property inspections, and other information to determine if application is acceptable for the available client program(s).
Evaluates and determines policy cancellation or reinstatement, modification of coverage form or limit within client and company guidelines.
Evaluates the experience of a risk against the class of business under review.
Evaluates the loss potential due to catastrophe, severity, and/or frequency.
Processes transactions and adjusts records as necessary and within company policy and procedure guidelines.
Analyzes transactions, searches available records using computer, printouts and/or company files.
Reports on any and all unusual conditions affecting client satisfaction.
Suggests workflow and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Reviews, organizes and forwards information to other areas for handling or consideration.
Communicates effectively with individuals/teams and reports any problems to the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university, business degree preferred; or three (3) to five (5) years of Agency or underwriting experience in Personal Lines including homeowners and other lines; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of Florida Insurance Statutes and Florida Department of Insurance regulations and policies.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures as outlined by the client or the management team. Ability to effectively respond to questions from customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Internet browser applications.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess an active 2-20 or 4-40 license or ability to obtain such within time frame established by the company.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
