Description

Cambria USA is looking for an Archivist to gather and assess physical material related to the history of Cambria to establish a company library and an accompanying digital representation of the material. This archival material is stored in various locations across the state of Minnesota and will need to be brought together, organized, and cataloged. The Archivist will help create a space with a library-like atmosphere that can also serve as an exhibit space for company visitors and employees interested in the company's history and collections. The Archivist will also help create a system for collecting corporate history as it is created in order to keep the company history "alive."

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develops, arranges, and describes archival material in accordance with accepted standards and practices
  • Creates finding aids using contemporary tools in accordance with national standards
  • Develops and implements procedures for the description, processing, and preservation of archival materials
  • Interacts with staff who have knowledge or possession of archival material both internal and external to the organization
  • Makes recommendations for material organization and order
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and standards for the archives
  • Coordinates the digitization of archival material adhering to national standards for cultural heritage digitization
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Knowledge of archival concepts, methodology, and techniques
  • Experience establishing procedures for archival collection
  • Experience performing research, identification, and evaluation/appraisal of potential archival material
  • Knowledge of archival and preservation concepts, methodology, and techniques
  • Experience in archival digitization and with national standards related to archival capture
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate client informational needs and determine appropriate alternative solutions
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate and foster a cooperative work environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain finding aids using contemporary tools in accordance with national standards
  • Ability to make evaluative judgments
  • Knowledge of automated storage and retrieval systems, electronic records, and electronic publications
  • Skill in searching and maintaining online and other electronic retrieval systems
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Ability to assess objectives and operational requirements and to develop and implement suitable operational policies and/or procedures


Minimum Requirements

Education: MA. in Library & Information Science or related field

Experience: 3+ years of experience in Archival Management and processing historical collections, including digital collections or directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Additional Requirements:

Travel Requirements: Limited travel regionally and nationally

Physical Requirements: Office position requiring telephone and computer use
