Camera Systems Architect

Responsibilities

• Research and development of Kargo camera, illumination, and sensor systems, including early concept development, modeling, design, proof of concept assembly, testing and analysis.
• Work with the CEO, Computer Vision, Mechanical, Electrical and Product teams to distill imaging system requirements for current and future products.
• Develop camera system architectures consisting of imaging sensors, lenses, illumination modules, edge computers, ISP pipelines, IQ tuning, and computer vision algorithms.
• Collaborate on camera system validation requirements and strategy, build validation setups for characterization.
• Work with external suppliers to get camera system components and subassemblies manufactured per specification.
• Lead and guide analysis and discussions for future hardware.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and validating camera systems for computer vision algorithms.
• Expertise in CMOS sensors, optics and imaging fundamentals.
• Experience in manufacturing and scaling of optical systems from concept to volume production.
• Familiarity with embedded computing systems, depth sensors, and image signal processing pipelines.
• Fluent in Optical simulation design using Zemax, LightTools, FRED, TracePro, or CODEV. 
• Experience with objective camera image quality testing, methodology and analysis.
• BS/MS in Optical Science/Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
