Job Description

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Sr. Cell Quality Engineer to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries.  Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have 5+ years of quality engineering and effective problem-solving experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and management for Solid Power with Corrective and Preventive Action.
  • Work with Solid Power manufacturing to identify areas for process improvement and apply a formalized corrective action process to make improvements.
  • Will be the company’s subject matter expert on problem solving techniques.
  • Develop, run, and interpret DOE when necessary.
  • Work with quality engineering and manufacturing to solve quality issues.
  • Lead quality corrective actions as developed by the operational staff.
  • Report findings to Solid Power management and to teams.
  • Will be the subject matter expert for Solid Power in Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Cause and Effect Matrix (C&E Matrix), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Student T Test (T-test), Control charts, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Must be an expert in the DMAIC problem solving method.
  • Contribute to the completion of FMEA, Control Plans, and Work Instructions.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
  • Six Sigma Black belt training.
  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
  • Structured problem solving and analytical skills including strong technical skills in statistical tools.
  • Ability to provide guidance to improve process efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using Minitab, JMP, or equivalent statistical software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering with a proven record of corrective action closures.
  • Manufacturing or chemical industry experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949); expertise in automotive standards desirable.
  • Experience with new product introductions and in transitioning products from R&D to high volume manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Prior management experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.

Salary Range: $83,000 - $152,000/year
