Capacity Planning Manager, Data Centers

The Job
Core Scientific is seeking a Data Center Capacity Planner to join the Data Center Services Team to drive capacity planning for our North American fleet of data centers. In this role, you'll be part of the team that works cross functionally to develop the long range and tactical data center plans and scaling strategies. You will evaluate critical capacity planning changes and develop analytical and quantitative models that encompass demand planning and maintaining the plan of record for Data Center Services. You will support the financial analysis and capacity measurements of new miner deployment initiatives and drive the implementation of new data center strategies and planning changes.
Responsibilities
- Work with the capacity stakeholder groups to evaluate demand signals and partner with teams to develop corresponding data center capacity
- Work cross-functionally to define problem statements, collect data, build models and make recommendations.
- Build models to support demand and capacity planning, buffer management, investment and ROI decisions, and other qualitative data analysis on data center scaling strategies.
- Build performance dashboards and visualizations to highlight trends and develop insights.
- Manage any requested changes to the plan and work with stakeholder groups in evaluating the capacity, cost, and timing impacts.
- Lead planning discussions and project reviews with key data center stakeholders such as sales, planning teams, and data center operations to align new projects and ensure alignment on all aspects of data center planning.
- Work with the data center teams and various stakeholders to define, create and report on relevant metrics for measuring and monitoring the business and influencing decisions.
- Lead and support various strategy projects, as needed
- Use technical judgment to identify and drive new project evaluations, technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in capacity planning, demand and supply management, production planning, operations planning.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with process improvement, systems development, and project management.
- Foundational knowledge of 3 phase electrical systems
- Experience with data analysis and data modeling.
- Experience in Excel and developing visualizations using Smartsheet, Tableau or PowerBI.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Work Environment
This job operates in the Austin, TX Headquarters. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands; and lift to 10 pounds.
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exepmt, Monday – Friday position. You may be expected to work some weekends and after hours as work requires.
Travel
Minimal travel may be required.
