Cash Application Specialist

In this role, you will be responsible for the day to day cash application efforts and partnering with Collections and the broader Finance team to deliver a consistent 'customer first' Zywave experience.

As a Cash Application Specialist you will be responsible for the following:

• Receive incoming mail and process customer check payments, including remote deposit to company bank accounts.
• Manage daily incoming electronic payments from customers and apply to accounts.
• Investigate and decision payments without identifying information; contact customers to verify intent of funds received.
• Generate refund requests for managerial approval when in receipt of excess funds from a customer.
• Process returned payments from customer bank accounts and reopen invoices to receive replacement payment.
• Respond to customer credit card chargeback requests, validating customer's contractual obligation to pay for services.
• Follow up on customers who have removed their automatic payment method to determine customers intent to pay current/future invoices.
• Enter cash transactions into general ledger system (Intacct) for non-customer monies received.
• Assist with cash reconciliation process and correct discrepancies.
• Perform month-end close activities to ensure accounting periods can close in a timely manner.

Factors for Success:

• 2 years of professional experience
• Associate or Bachelor degree in accounting or business preferred
• Experience with Salesforce is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• A positive attitude and strong organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead assigned projects
