The Category Manager is responsible for complete analytics and business intelligence support across categories for an assigned strategic account. This role develops a strong, data driven relationship between the DRiV team and a group of category leaders and managers within the customer organization. Working with internal teams, this position provides business insights using research and fact-based data to drive new distribution, optimize existing distribution, merchandising, pricing and promotional mix for DRiV and its customer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Work in the fast-paced sales team to drive category growth at a key customer
Primary Duties
- Work in partnership with internal data science and data management teams to provide customer support, including:
- Category Scorecards
- Sales Benchmarks
- Promotional Activity ROI
- Assortment Analysis
- Product Mix Recommendations
- Analyze and report sales, POS and inventory data using Power BI
- Strengthen the customer relationship through creation of scheduled category management activities, including joint business planning
- Find and communicate market and economic trends and business opportunities and gaps
- Drive category consumer learning into stronger, more strategic customer plans
- Craft recommendations for product mix, pricing, promotion and merchandising to improve customer performance and in support of product line reviews
- Support internal sales and inventory reporting related to assigned customer
- Develop ad hoc data models in Power BI
Required Skills
- Experience with use and navigation of Power BI
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of automotive aftermarket distribution channels
- Excellent team player
- Ability to draw insights from data and present those insights in meaningful and creative ways using a combination of charts, power point slides, and other tools
- Fact-based selling experience
- Strong presentation skills, including effective communication of clear insights from detailed analysis
- Knowledge of relevant business KPis, including margin, inventory turns, weeks of supply, etc.
Additional Skills
- Advanced Power BI development
- Retail category management experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in account management, category management or business analytics field
