HID's Supply Chain Operations Department:

Under the guidance of the Director of Supplier Development, Sourcing and SC NPI for Secure Issuance, the Category Manager will be responsible for supplier management and sourcing activities of the Printer Consumables and select critical Tier 2 component suppliers for the printer hardware in Secure Issuance as assigned. The Category Manager Specialist will provide information and helps develop sourcing strategies to drive year/year cost savings, improve supplier quality and delivery performance, and work closely with the Engineering and Product Marketing teams to support development of new suppliers, technologies, and products. This role will drive and execute material plans in working with suppliers on existing products requiring ECO implementation/revisions/modifications.

As our Category Manager, you'll support HID's success by:

  • Supports and provides input to strategic projects and helps lead the sourcing plans with assigned suppliers and projects in support of HID's future business needs.
  • Manages the day-to-day supplier development/relationship activities with assigned suppliers to ensure HID is receiving best in class pricing while supporting cost negotiating and ensuring transparent cost models with suppliers (total cost of ownership), continuity of supply, and product quality.
  • Serves as the main point of supplier contact for daily activities where tactical information and assistance is required for Quarterly Business Review Meetings (QBR), cost reduction activities, continuous improvement actions, quotation requests, new supplier set-up in Oracle, non-disclosure agreements, quality issues where appropriate, and placing non-inventory purchase orders.
  • Serves as escalation point of contact and coordinates with the relevant team members to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring non-disclosure agreements, code of conduct, supplier contracts, and development agreements for current and active suppliers are not expired. As required, work with suppliers to update appropriate documents.
  • Serve as an active participant in the new product introduction team as the key procurement contact for the Printer Consumable category. Ensures all buying decisions support the specific needs and requirements of the Business Unit.
  • Act as the primary interface with HID factory or supplier responsible for the actual product build for Printer Consumables; where applicable manage and oversee the technology transfer from prototype centers to production.
  • Analyze quotations received to understand total cost of ownership; be involved in the selection or recommendation of suppliers with whom orders are to be placed and schedule deliveries for Printer Consumables.
  • Serve as a negotiator with manufacturer as required implementing cost reductions prior to product launch and supporting cost savings initiatives in the growth phase of a new product.
  • Receives information from NPI Buyer for lifecycle risk analysis (Long lead-items, supply chain capacity issues, obsolescence) to assess planned schedules and provide material program status .
  • Participates in the weekly NPI cross-functional team meetings, monthly NPI Strategic Sourcing Executive review meeting, monthly OTD meetings, Development meetings and SAFe meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide information so NPI Buyer may prepare and place purchase orders with suppliers for assigned parts, materials and services requiring extensive or specialized service.

What we will love about your background:

  • Preferably Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 4+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in managing direct supplier relationships.
  • Knowledge of supply management strategies and tools such as production planning, scheduling, operations planning and inventory control
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on follow-up and follow-through.
  • Openness for new initiatives, fast learner, highly motivated, proactive, self-starter
  • Excellent organizational, communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a global procurement organization is preferred.
  • Experience working with Printer and related Consumable suppliers is desirable.
