What you will do:
- Johnson Controls Building Solutions North America are seeking the next hard worker Category Manager. In this role, you will strategically manage 3rd party suppliers for the critical Access Control and Batteries categories, integral to the core of JCI as a market-leading Security Integrator.
- Leading the Categories and supplier relationships across both the USA and Canada markets, you will bring your wealth of Category Management experience and knowledge to demonstrate skill in category optimization through negotiation, sourcing, strategizing and value-add delivery for exceptional results.
- You will also be a self-starter; skilled in contract creation and management, identifying and mitigating risk and building strong strategic partnerships for win/win industry solutions.
- You will lead on all pricing negotiations for your category, as well as cost optimization projects, improving working capital through free cash flow and supporting our many branch locations across North America. Annual spend under management will be ~$65M. You thrive on responsibility and are ready to get going quickly in this pivotal role!
How you will do:
- Build and implement strategy to exceed profit plan goals related to cost savings, working capital, quality, supplier rationalization, supply continuity, risk management and other agreed objectives
- Provide extraordinary thought leadership and drive continuous improvement through Procurement, Category Management and the wider business
- Develop, implement and supervise category strategies to meet collaborator and business requirements
- Lead relationship-building and ownership with suppliers and internal teams, acting as escalation point to ensure continuity of supply to support the business unit requirements.
- Collaborate with branch locations to identify and introduce innovative products and services to expand field offerings.
- Ensure compliance with all internal procurement and business operating procedures.
- Cultivate and promote diverse supplier relationships. Work with regional teams to build and deliver diverse sourcing opportunities.
- Align procurement metrics with the leadership team and communicate regularly with internal customers.
What we look for:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a relatable field
- 4+ years of Procurement experience
- Category Management experience with proven delivery
- People management and influencing skills
- Capability to collaborate with senior leadership
- Self-starter with the aim to make an impact, work at pace and make data-led decisions
- Developed understanding of Procurement tools and standard processes
- Travel up to 10%

Preferred:
- Procurement experience with a focus on Security products preferred but not crucial, we can guide you that bit if you bring the Category Management skills.
- Experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge preferred, because you need to understand how Procurement contributes to the wider financial picture.
