What you will do:
In this role, you will strategically manage the selection of a defined list of 3rd party category suppliers used by Johnson Controls within North America. Activities include strategy development, contract management, supplier relationships, pricing negotiations, developing cost saving projects, improving working capital and supporting our branch locations across North America. Annual spend under management will be approximately $100M across all locations within North America.
How you will do it:
- Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to: cost savings, working capital, quality, supplier rationalization, supply continuity, risk management and other agreed objectives
- Develop the category strategies in order to meet the requirements of our branch offices and overall business objectives.
- Lead relationship-building and ownership with suppliers and internal teams, acting as escalation point to ensure continuity of supply to support the business unit requirements.
- Collaborate with branch locations to identify and bring forward new/critical products and services to expand the line card product of field offerings.
- Ensure compliance with all internal procurement and business operating procedures.
- Provide thought leadership and drive innovation through Procurement, Category Management and the wider business.
- Cultivate and promote diverse supplier relationships. Work with regional teams to create and deliver project based diverse sourcing opportunities.
- Align procurement metrics with the regional leadership team and communicate regularly with internal customers.
What we look for:
- Bachelor's degree in a relatable field
- 5-6 years procurement experience
- People management and influencing skills.
- Capability to interface with senior leadership
- Developed understanding of purchasing tools and best practices.
- Travel up to 10%

Communication- Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to express information/ideas in a professional manner to varying levels of people and suppliers.
Initiative/Execution/Innovation - Candidate should have the ability to take actions, make informed decisions and generate ideas to improve overall business performance on key metrics directly influenced by this position. Candidate must have demonstrable commercial acumen.
Ownership/Commitment - Candidate should have the ability to influence decisions & results even when all elements are not under the individual's direct control.
Planning/Balance - Candidate should have the ability to establish goals consistent with company objectives and to adapt plans to a changing environment.
Preferred:
- Procurement experience with a focus on HVAC Controls, Fire Suppression and/ or Security preferred.
- Experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge preferred.
