GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Facility Engineer/ Cavern Storage Specialist to work with our team of dedicated professionals in our Midcontinent Region, based out of our Houston, TX office.
Responsibilities of this position will be but are not limited to:
• Perform Facility Engineering, such as identify basic process requirements, major equipment, and key risks for Future Energy projects. Projects include underground storage, particularly for storage gaseous hydrogen in salt caverns, hydrogen and ammonia production, hydrogen blending in natural gas systems, ammonia cracking, methanation, and carbon dioxide capture. Project sites are located globally.
• Participate in technical review of engineering deliverables for Future Energy projects, particularly in concept and feasibility stages.
• Assist the project manager with client and regulating agency.
• Complete technical review of deliverables on-time within project scope-of-work and budgeted hours.
• Work with multidisciplinary team of geologists, engineers, CAD specialists, and administrative assistants to deliver successful projects.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Master's preferred.
• >10 years of experience working as process or mechanical engineer in chemicals, petrochemicals, or industrial gas projects.
• >5 years of experience in design or operation of underground storage facilities for hydrogen or natural gas in salt caverns or depleted reservoirs.
• Experience with hydrogen production, ammonia production, carbon capture or similar a plus.
• Experienced with technical writing and developing large technical documents. Writing samples will be requested during the interview.
• Travel expected to be < 10%.
