WSP is currently initiating a search for a CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer for our Orlando, Florida office. The following locations will also be considered: Tampa. Be involved in projects with our Florida PM/CM Teams and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges

CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer - Duties are to pe rform advanced engineering work on mid-size to major complex projects. Schedule, manage and oversee subordinate staff, determine staff work assignments for satisfactory job performance, ensuring their compliance with FDOT policies and procedures related to Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI). Promote safety standards of personnel and equipment at the construction project site. Provide on-site engineering and construction support to resolve project related issues. Provide on-the-job training in construction inspection and testing procedures to the project staff and review project schedule and daily work reports. Provide technical assistance and related coordination activities to utility companies that are in construction phases with regard to relocation of utilities within project limits and new utility services.

Your Impact
  • Ensure construction project administration is in accordance with the contract documents, the Construction Project Administration Manual (CPAM), FDOT policies and procedures. Conduct Pre-Construction, weekly and pre-activity meetings in accordance with the CPAM.
  • Provide notification to the Sr. Project Engineer on plan errors, field changes, extra work, contract interpretations and procedure interpretations. Review and provide guidance on contract changes (supplemental agreements, work orders and time extensions). Act as the liaison between the CEI team and the Engineer of Record (EOR).
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly estimates, final estimate and project correspondence. Develop contract modifications to compensate for additional work and time. Responsible for public awareness and resolution of customer complaints related to assigned projects under construction. Review contract claims for time/monies and prepare recommendations. Recommend final acceptance of projects.
  • Review construction plans and provide constructability comments for CEI pursuits.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with 3 yrs related experience in major road and bridge construction projects (FDOT and/or CFX experience preferred) OR 8 years of similar experience in major road and bridge construction (FDOT and/or CFX experience preferred)
  • Ability to be responsive to project emergency situations with short notification and work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Certification in Final Estimates Level I and II, QC (Quality Control) Manager through the Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) and Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (must obtain within 6 months).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Valid Class E driver's license to operate a company vehicle to perform the duties of the position. Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
