Job Description
Dolby's consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby's breakthrough technologies, powering the world's top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.
This key role will be part of the team that oversees the evaluation, design, construction, commissioning, and post-installation support of Dolby Cinema locations, Post Production partners, special venues, and studio partners, globally.
In this role, you will assume direct responsibility for overseeing and steering project tasks, schedules, and on-site duties to guarantee the successful completion of projects in accordance with Dolby's exacting specifications, within established timelines, and within budget constraints.
The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge and experience in the process of cinema design and construction, including an in-depth understanding of the audio and projection system technologies used in modern cinemas. In order to best be able to support our exhibitor partners, you will have worked for an exhibitor or technology vendor in this space, and have extensive cinema industry knowledge. You are familiar with working on construction projects, working within tight schedules, and being adaptable and resilient to change.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and manage the process of successfully implementing the Dolby Cinema offering, from the site survey through to opening.
- Collaborate and manage the relationship with the exhibitor's implementation team, local architects, and local construction teams to guard and protect Dolby Cinema's design, brand, schedule, and budget.
- Partners closely with system integrators and Dolby Sales, Marketing, and Business teams to ensure technology components are installed and operational per Dolby Cinema specifications.
- Lead/assist site sign-off process after build out, verify the translation and implementation of the design execution on a per-site basis (administer multiple concurrent implementations)
- Troubleshoot complex problems where analysis of the situation requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
- Provide real-world feedback to internal stakeholders, to help identify potential needs for updates to the Dolby Cinema specs, or general offering.
- Provide post-installation support for Dolby Cinemas as needed. This support may include technical support via phone or email, onsite support for equipment repairs, calibration, issue diagnosis/remediation, equipment upgrade, and the installation of new devices.
- Provide screening and special event support at Dolby Cinema locations.
- Installation and support for studio and post-production partners including installation, calibration, event support, equipment maintenance, and service.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with an understanding of Digital Cinema equipment, including installation of: Digital Cinema Servers, Integrated Media Blocks (IMB), Cinema Audio Processors, 3D Cinema products, and Digital Cinema projectors (intensive, hands-on training will be provided)
- Knowledge of cinema design, acoustics, SMPTE, and other relevant cinema standards
- Experience successfully managing complex projects, with multiple stakeholders both internal and external.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a field engineer or similar technical role in the cinema or projection industry.
- Experience in both Windows, Mac, and Linux-based operating systems and application software programs.
- A proven track record of working without supervision in the field and dealing professionally with cinema customers and vendors at all levels.
- Able to work independently to achieve goals established in a team environment
- High-ambiguity tolerance
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting specific deadlines.
- Ability to lift and carry electronic equipment for installations
- Diplomatic and able to execute in a dynamic deadline-driven environment
- Ability to report the status of projects that are completed, in progress, and proposed in a clear and cohesive manner to management and the team utilizing specified communication tools.
- The capability to travel both domestically and internationally is required to fulfill this position's requirements
- Comfortable staying and working in different geographies. Our team covers projects primarily in the greater Los Angeles area and also in the Americas.
- Adaptability to travel as needed based on current projects. Travel can be prolonged; final installation and commissioning require several weeks based on a project location.
- Ability to work non-standard working patterns, including weekends, as needed to meet project demands.
The Burbank /Los Angeles Area base salary range for this full-time position is $114,600-$137,800 plus bonus, equity, and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
