Firewalk Studios is dedicated to creating unforgettable multiplayer experiences that capture the joy of playing together. We believe in the power of multiplayer and want to delight players with worlds that spark imagination and forge connection through immersive gameplay, artistry, and heartfelt characters. We are currently working on an original multiplayer game as part of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

THE ROLE

Our studio is looking for a Character Concept Artist who is incredibly passionate about games and bringing exceptional entertainment to millions of players. Our Character Concept Artists help our team achieve the vision of our games by creating compelling and original character designs.
Our character concept artists are responsible for creating compelling, original character concept art and helping our team achieve their aesthetic vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce high-quality character concepts that meet the artistic vision for the game and work within technical and design constraints.
• Collaborate with other disciplines across the character pipeline to create the desired visuals and experience of characters.
• Improve and elevate the quality of characters and their appearance throughout the development process.
• Sync with Gameplay Design team to make sure your character design is aligning with the overall gameplay goals of the team.
• Actively participate in playtest sessions to evaluate how concept designs are working in context of the game and providing feedback.
• Meeting with our Game Director, Art Director, Lead Character Artist, Lead Character Concept Artist and Lead Character Tech Artist to review your current work.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have shipped at least one successful AAA title from start to finish, or equivalent game development experience.
• Strong skills Photoshop, Clip Studio Painting.
• Superb grasp of human (& animal) anatomy ,  form, silhouette, color theory, and character design aesthetics.
• Color pallet, line-work, strong sense of costume design, anatomy, graphic design.
• Strong art portfolio exhibiting exceptional skills within Sci-Fi, mythology, fantasy themes.
• Foundation in traditional arts including painting, sculpture, figure drawing, illustration
• Ability to work well with a creative team.
• Ability to be receptive to art direction and constructive feedback from project art leads.
