Job Title:Chef de Cuisine β Residential Dining
Location:San Diego, CA
Salary:$5,720 β $7,575/month + 10% 401(k) contribution, full medical/dental/vision benefits, and tuition benefits for yourself or eligible family members
Hours:Full-time, 37.5 hours/week with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and special events
About the Role
A leading higher education institution is seeking a talented Chef de Cuisine to lead culinary operations for its large-scale residential dining program. This role oversees menu development, food quality, staff leadership, and cost management for a high-volume, award-winning campus dining operation serving students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead and supervise a diverse culinary team, including chefs, cooks, custodians, and student staff
β’ Plan, develop, and execute menus for residential dining, special events, and themed dinners
β’ Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety
β’ Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and vendor relationships to ensure cost efficiency
β’ Train and mentor staff on cooking techniques, safety standards, and service excellence
β’ Ensure compliance with health department regulations and internal sanitation policies
β’ Collaborate with leadership to enhance menus, drive innovation, and elevate the dining experience
Qualifications
β’ Degree in Culinary Arts or bachelorβs in hospitality, nutrition, or related field
β’ Minimum 4 years of culinary experience and 5 years in a supervisory role within a high-volume food production environment
β’ Proven ability to control costs, manage budgets, and maintain quality in a large-scale operation
β’ Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
β’ Proficiency in computerized menu management systems and kitchen operations software
β’ ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire)
