We are seeking a Chef to prepare meals, maintain consistency, and ensure a positive guest experience through excellent food execution.
Position Summary
The Chef is responsible for preparing menu items according to established recipes and standards, maintaining food quality and safety, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This role works closely with the café owner and management team to support day-to-day kitchen operations, maintain efficiency, and uphold the café’s commitment to excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
• Prepare and cook all menu items following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure orders are prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
Kitchen Operations & Safety
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and organization at all times.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, and labeling procedures.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties, including prep and cleanup.
Quality Control & Consistency
• Monitor portion sizes and food quality to ensure consistency across all dishes.
• Follow established café standards for plating and presentation.
• Communicate any issues with food quality, supply shortages, or equipment problems to management promptly.
Inventory & Supplies
• Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking supplies.
• Monitor ingredient levels and alert management when items need to be reordered.
• Minimize food waste by following proper storage and rotation practices.
Team Support
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Support training of new team members on café standards and processes when needed.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Chef, Line Cook, or Head Cook in a restaurant or café setting.
• Culinary degree or certification (preferred but not required).
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in preparation.
• Valid ServSafe Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
