Job Description

The Chief Accounting Officer ("CAO") is responsible for the oversight of all global accounting and finance operations, while achieving strong internal controls and meeting all applicable compliance requirements for a fast-growing SaaS company. The CAO will be primarily responsible for establishing and managing
accounting and finance workflows to include financial reporting; general ledger accounting (month-end close); revenue operations (including project accounting, revenue recognition, invoicing and collecting client payments); payroll, tax, equity administration and procurement. In addition, the CAO will manage,
build, and mentor a global team. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, manage, oversee, mentor, and develop a best-in-class accounting department of approximately 50 employees
  • Set standards of excellence and make improvements to processes, efficiencies, technology, and talent management
  • Be a leader who is driven to build high performing teams, contributing to a positive and empathetic culture which values team members, providing support and mentorship along the way
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported timely and in accordance with accounting policies on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Includes quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all GAAP and other applicable laws, rules, and financial regulations for financial, partnership and tax reporting, particularly SaaS and software revenue accounting rules under ASC606
  • Oversee and direct reporting requirements including GAAP financial statements
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Work closely with FP&A to proactively identify and monitor significant business trends and variances to plan in revenue, expenses, headcount, capital, balance sheet and cash flow items.
  • Review SOX risk control matrices on a periodic basis for each of the significant financial processes
  • Build strong relationships with business partners, auditors, executive staff, and the Board of Directors (BOD)
  • Advises management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices which may impact operations and reporting
  • Monitor emerging US GAAP, IFRS and SEC developments, including participation in outreach with industry peers
  • Preparation of ad-hoc special requests for management

Requirements:
  • 15+ years of progressive corporate accounting and controllership experience, with a minimum of 10 years of relative management/leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or Accounting or other quantitative field; advanced degree (MBA, etc.) a plus; relevant industry certifications such as CPA required
  • Prior tenure in a senior level position in a fast-growing SaaS/Enterprise software company
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures including experience with GAAP technical accounting research and new accounting standard implementation
  • Strong technical understanding of SaaS and software revenue accounting requirements
  • Familiarity with IFRS accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in internal control design and financial process optimization
  • Experience with acquisition and integration work
  • Experience in system and process upgrades and enhancements
  • A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaboration
  • A proven record track record of innovation, leadership, teamwork, and creativity
