Nokia Standards targets collaboration with internal and external experts to advance the state-of-the-art technology landscape as well as to protect Nokia Intellectual Property. The Architecture and Management group is responsible for research and standardization activities related to 5G and 6G cellular network architecture, security and its AI/ML-empowered zero-touch automation. Our team leads the industry transition journey of the cellular network functions, applications and workloads to cloud native.

What you will learn and contribute to

To further strengthen our research, standards and industry leadership in the telco transition to cloud native, we are looking for a Chief Cloud Technology Strategist and Architect. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing the cloud-native fundamentals, methodologies and related tools, implementation challenges in telco networks as well as derive the possible deployment options.

The job includes the development and execution of a research and standardization strategy supporting the migration of radio and core networks to cloud native and making sure the strategy is consistent and aligned with Nokia internal stakeholders. You will engage with applied research and standardization professionals to drive and defend the Nokia's preferred solutions in key industry organizations as well as to build up robust intellectual property assets for Nokia. Interaction with customers, partners and competitors in these organizations is inherent part of the job.

As part of our team, you will:

  • Analyze the technology, its applicability to telco networks, possible solutions, deployment options and evolution roadmap
  • Contribute to the creation of the technology vision, strategy and reference architecture definition
  • Develop research, standardization and open-source strategy supporting the transition to cloud-native
  • Collaborate with the Nokia open-source team, Bell Labs and Business Groups to drive and defend Nokia's preferred solutions in key industry organizations (e.g. Anuket, CNCF, etc.)
  • Engage with customers and ecosystem partners as part of the research and standardization process


Your skills and experience

You have:

  • Strong understanding and hands-on in cloud technologies, tools, services and methodologies, and 7 or more years of experience with related research, open-source, and standardization of these technologies
  • A computer science or electrical engineering/MSc degree, or equivalent
  • Proven strong analytical thinking, ability to address complex problems and find innovative/disruptive solutions in multi-cultural engineering research and standardization environments
  • An outstanding team player, with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent communication and presentation skill

It would be nice if you also had:
  • Understanding of Telco clouds trends, requirements and technologies
  • Knowledge of major Hyperscalers cloud offerings and environments
  • Understanding of automation and orchestration technologies
  • Understanding of cloud security challenges and technologies
