Position Overview:
Chief Engineer position responsible for ensuring/enhancing functional excellence and overall technical integrity of new product and technology development for Aerospace electrification portfolio in the area of power electronics and conversion. This is a global role aimed at providing high quality low voltage and high-power electronics design/development with adherence/compliance of Eaton procedures to align with industry standards like DO-254/160 and ARP4754A in Aerospace, or the equivalent Functional Safety standards for Electrical/Electronic systems in Hydraulics or Vehicle (e.g. IEC61508 and ISO26262) and MilStds
The successful candidate will need to have a wide range of knowledge and experience across the following domain disciplines:
- Power conversion and distribution, Digital and Analog Electronics; switch mode high power, high voltage, highly efficient, high power density DC-AC inverters, DC/DC, AC/DC converters with power factor correction with both analog and digital controls, HV power distribution systems
- Cradle to grave development experience on embedded controls products requiring high reliability and ability to withstand harsh environments.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Senior level engineering technical role for Aerospace Fluid & Electrical Distribution Division will act as subject matter expert in Electronics with the flexibility to apply their expertise to different product lines including converters, inverters, power distribution, electric propulsion
- Generates technical solutions and has accountability for the integrity of design solutions on multiple large and small programs
- Administer electronics and electrical engineering principles to identify and understand issues, and to generate design solutions for various product development challenges associated with power conversion, inversion and distribution.
- Drives best practice methodologies for engineering with proven methods & tools and serves as the "surrogate customer" for quality acceptance of all products & technical deliverables by personally getting involved, designing, teaching coaching & mentoring
- Helps engineering teams and managers attain on-time program execution for many complex programs with electronics content to ensure programs meets internal and external customer needs via performance measures
- Maintains an awareness of research, trends/industry developments and utilizes domain expertise to drive strategic innovation and technology roadmap activities aligned to current and future customer needs
- Leads the Innovation activity around Electronics (includes Power Electronics) to support Eaton Aerospace organic growth objectives of revenue growth year over year. Innovation and Ideation are critical activities to fill the growth funnel with potential growth opportunities. Contributes to strategic direction and advancement of current product technology and development of new technology and product feature sets, to drive value propositions that command a premium for the associated products.
- Collaborates with customers and anticipates the future based on a deep understanding and familiarity of current technology trends and directions
- Serves as key technical lead to the Integrated Program Development Team, and to customers on large and complex programs
- Key interface to relevant professional organizations, standards bodies and university collaborations related to Electronics. Proactively represent and promote Eaton by taking an active role in external forums and drives for recognition as an SME.
- Helps engineering teams integrate Design for Six Sigma tools and approaches, engineering simulation & modeling software, and phase-gate development processes for design and development activities.
- Drives the use of tools such as DFMEA, DFT and DFM design techniques to ensure development of robust design specifications, design guidelines, model and drawing detailing, design validation plans that produce reliable and sound design solutions
- Facilitates and leads root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities as needed
- Facilitates, Leads or Supports Non-Advocate Reviews as tasked
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other STEM related discipline (e.g Physics, Computer Science, Electrical, etc.) from an accredited institution is required
- 10 years of experience with new product development specializing in electrical and electronic embedded components and systems
- 5 years of experience in Aerospace electronics or other field requiring high integrity/reliability in harsh environments
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications:
- Green or Black Belt Certification
- Broad knowledge of other industries to "import" best in class ideas
- Master's or PhD degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

- Assist in the development of Eaton Aerospace electrification strategy, supporting more electric aircraft and personal air taxis (EVTOL, ECTOL) for best in class in electronics & electrical systems
