About the opportunityÂ
Reporting to the CEO and joining the executive leadership team, you will work closely with the rest of the executive team. This is an incredible opportunity to work at a high growth technology start-up in a unique position at the intersection of data science and education technology. DataCamp is at the forefront of the data science edtech industry, with over 200,000 consumers and 2,100 businesses signed up on a subscription basis.Â
We are searching for an experienced CFO to join our high-performing team and help us on our growth journey. This seasoned strategist not only understands current accounting practices and trends, but has proven experience raising capital or debt and adapting to change in hyper-growth scenario’s. As a member of our senior management, he or she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication and presentation skills. The CFO you will be responsible for a team of a current team of over 10 FTEs in accounting, finance and internal IT.
Objectives and responsibilities
- Advisor to CEO: as a member of the leadership team, you will contribute to the wider discussion, strategy and execution of DataCamp’s agenda and ambition with an entrepreneurial lens and help to drive the company’s financial strategy to balance growth and profitability.
- You will orchestrate and co-own the execution of the financial plan.
- Responsible, either directly or by managing staff, for all broad finance related functions, e.g. accounting, procurement, AR, AP, cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, equity (plan) administration, financial and statutory reporting, tax.
- Partner extensively with executives and teams across to organisation on financial decision making with a focus on commercial/GTM teams.
- Oversee the internal IT department and play a key role in the information security team.
- Manage your direct reports and develop and build a best in class finance team.
Skills and qualifications
- 8+ years experience in senior financial leadership positions with an international scope.
- Worked in VC backed high-growth US based SAAS companies .
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a reputation for integrity and ownership.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities and ambiguity.
- Effective communicator able to build relationships to drive organizational change.
- Deep understanding of accounting (US GAAP), financial, tax and corporate financial laws and regulations .
- Demonstrated experience with raising capital and debt within a business.
- Strong analytical, data analysis, financial modelling and forecasting skills.
It is a plus if you have:
- International experience, specifically UK and continental Europe.
- Experience in a remote, decentralised organization across multiple time zones.
- Prior experience with a product led growth B2C and B2B product offering.
- Familiarity with data warehouses, BI tools and SQL (or R/Python) .
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions and participating in an IPO (or sale) process.
- Familiarity with some of our financial tech stack, i.e. Netsuite, Zuora, Avalara, SFDC, Metabase, Shiny, Carta.
