Chief Information Officer

Sol Systems is seeking a Chief Information Officer to help advance its mission to drive socially responsible renewable energy development in an ever-changing energy landscape. The ideal candidate would have proven experience as a transformational leader, scaling IT organizations in a strategically aligned manner to support a journey from mid-size business to mature enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop an IT strategy tightly aligned with corporate strategy.  
• Oversee tactical execution against this strategy and related goals, leading both internal and external teams to achieve the necessary results.
• Develop and manage IT department budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility in the IT organization.
• Guide development and enforcement of organization-wide IT policies and procedures to ensure both adherence to industry best practices and compliance with external regulations.
• Regularly report on key performance metrics for the IT organization to leadership and the organization as a whole.
• Educate members of the executive team and board in areas of IT strategy, performance, and other IT-related topics.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:

• 10+ years leading mid-size IT organizations as a CIO, CTO, or similar executive-level IT leader in the energy or financial services space.
• Repeated demonstrated experience thoughtfully growing an IT organization to support a rapidly growing business, including creation of strategic plans, translation to tactical actions, and leadership of execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Location: This is a full-time role based in Washington, D.C.
