Chief of Heart and Vascular Services
Job Description
VHC Health is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief of Heart and Vascular Services to lead its cardiovascular service line. This is a unique opportunity to shape and expand an integrated, high-performing program as the inaugural physician executive in this role.
 Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the heart and vascular service line.
- Collaborate across departments and care settings to drive clinical excellence, patient experience, and cost-effective care.
- Lead and mentor a team of cardiovascular medical directors and specialists.
- Develop and implement goals related to quality, growth, and integration of cardiovascular services.
- Foster a unified culture with consistent standards across all sites of care.
- Support clinical research and academic partnerships.
- Represent the program at local, state, and national levels.
 What You’ll Lead
- Multispecialty cardiovascular councils (Cardiac Surgery, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Women’s Heart Health, Imaging, etc.)
- Strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives
- Integration of outpatient and system-wide services
- Regional referral growth and physician engagement
 Key Priorities
- Build credibility and trust as a visible, collaborative leader.
- Assess and enhance the current infrastructure and care delivery model.
- Create a unified vision for cardiovascular care at VHC Health.
- Drive measurable improvements in clinical outcomes, financial performance, and team engagement.
- Expand the reach and impact of the heart and vascular service line across the region and potentially on a national level.
- Strengthen capabilities in heart failure management, leveraging evidence-based care models to support high-risk populations.
 Qualifications
- MD or DO with board certification in a cardiovascular specialty.
- Minimum 10 years of clinical experience, including leadership of large-scale or expanding cardiovascular programs.
- A strong background in heart failure care is highly desirable.
- Proven success leading within complex health systems or matrixed environments.
- National presence or experience participating in regional/national cardiovascular initiatives preferred.
- Eligible for licensure in Virginia.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and team leadership skills.
